Special Event Permit

How to Obtain a Special Event Permit

  1. Please review our Special Events Policy (PDF).
    • If your proposed event is on private property, you'll likely need to work with the Planning Division for a Temporary Use Permit (PDF).
  2. Submit a Special Event Pre-Application form at least 75 days prior to the proposed event. If your proposed event is a Tier IV Event as described below, please submit the pre-application according to the deadlines below.
    • Please note, Tier IV Event:
      1. Takes place during peak season (3rd Friday in June through Labor Day, 3rd Friday in December through the 1st Sunday in January, MLK Weekend, or President's Day Week)
      2. Requires traffic control measures, which include:
        • A road closure on an arterial or primary roadway
        • Traffic control points
        • Personnel required to implement a traffic control plan
    • Pre-applications for Tier IV Events are due as follows: 
      • Summer Peak Season- January 15th
      • Christmas Peak Season - August 1st
      • MLK Weekend- August 15th
      • President's Week- September 20th
  3. Once your pre-application has been submitted, a Special Event Coordinator will complete a preliminary review within 3 working days to determine classifcation of event, approval of date(s) and location(s), and whether any other agencies or stakeholders need to be consulted. The Special Event Coordinator will then inform Applicant of additonal information needed to complete a Special Event Application Package and will issue an invoice for the application fee based on the classification of event.
