Town Council Committee Designations
A Brown Act Committee formed in July 2023 by Town Council to work toward a River Revitalization Action Plan - to celebrate the Truckee River and revitalize East and West River Street. The subcommittee's work will include comprehensive public outreach and engagement with businesses along the Truckee River corridor. Identify potential receiver sites. Develop a vision for the river corridor and develop incentives to support relocation and revitalization efforts. Learn more on the River Revitalization Steering Committee page.

Council approved the Town's participation in the Beacon Program (Resolution 2017-13) in April 2017.

Staff requested Council create a subcommittee that could consider items under consideration by the County, State or Federal Government that have an impact on Truckee. These items typically require a response in a very limited amount of time. Staff has convened this group on an as-needed basis to formulate letters to our legislators regarding issues of importance to the Town.

All Council members have the ability to attend regional, as well as state-wide, conferences and help the League better understand and represent the Town of Truckee. Several years ago, Council began designating two members. This designation has worked similarly to the Legislative Correspondence Subcommittee that staff will contact on an as-needed basis.

Council Regional Interest Committee Seats
The TTALUC is currently run by NCTC and is responsible for the Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan (LUCP). This establishes allowable land use around and in the flight path of the airport. *The City Selection Committee selects two representatives to sit on the Commission, the two counties' Boards of Supervisors select two members, the two counties' Airport Managers select two members, and the six members select one member at large to serve. The primary responsibility is to attend monthly Chamber board meetings and facilitate information sharing between the Chamber and the Town on items of mutual interest. Meetings are the third Tuesday each month at 2:30 pm (to 3:30).

This group of mayors from Grass Valley, Nevada City and Truckee, meet annually to recommend representatives for various Nevada County boards and commissions.

Please note: The City Selection Committee is made up of the Nevada County incorporated cities Mayors and is staffed by the Nevada County Board of Supervisors.
The Sierra Business Council is the convener of the group formed in 2022. The CTA is a regional public-private partnership of local governments, special districts, community organizations, businesses, and individuals committed to collaboration, innovation, and accountability through a governing body and shared vision for the North Tahoe-Truckee community to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045.

The Cities of Grass Valley, Nevada City, Truckee and Nevada County Mayors, Board Chair and Managers meet on a regular basis to build relationships and to discuss items and issues of regional concern.

Local Area Formation Commission (LAFCo) appointments are made by the *City Selection Committee". There is a seat on LAFCo for each city, however each year one of the city members rotates to an alternate position. The primary function of California LAFCo's is to encourage the orderly growth and development of local agencies. LAFCo's responsibilities include review of and action on proposals for:
- Formation of new local public agencies
- Change in boundaries of existing local agencies
- Other changes in organization of local agencies, such as consolidations

This Board was established to unwind redevelopment. In March 2012, the Redevelopment Successor Agency Oversight Board held its first meeting. In July of 2018 the Oversight Board responsibility changed to the responsibility of Nevada County. The Board reviews decisions made by the Successor Agency as required by the legislation.

The Board was established by Nevada County as a state requirement that looks at equipment purchases related to local access to the Department of Justice Automated Fingerprint Systems. The Board rotates the membership each year between the Mayors from Grass Valley, Nevada City and the Town of Truckee. This means Truckee's Mayor would only serve once every three years (if there is a need for the Board to meet).

The mission of the NCTC is to plan, communicate and coordinate with the citizens and decision makers of Nevada County, Grass Valley, Nevada City, Truckee, and Caltrans to create a balanced regional transportation system. The Nevada County Transportation Commission is made up of seven members. Four members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors and three are appointed by the incorporated municipalities in the County. The Town Council appoints a member to represent the Town on NCTC.

Council has had ongoing interest in the effort to have a new library constructed here in Truckee. Council members have expressed an interest in consistently participating in this effort. This includes meetings with regional interests as well as the Friends of the Truckee Library group.

Run buy the Sierra Business Council, this cross-sector partnership promotes and facilitates regional climate adaptation and mitigation strategies, serves as a climate action capacity-building hub for Sierra/Cascade communities, and fosters urban-rural connections to build statewide investment in our region's communities and natural resources.

Coalition bringing together local government, nonprofits, healthcare providers, faith and business organizations, a community foundation, library and community members to expand solutions for our neighbors experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. Participation includes Nevada County, Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation (TTCF), Town Manager Jen Callaway, Police Chief Danny Renfrow, and Mayor Jan Zabriskie. TTCF selected Agnew Beck as a consultant for facilitation and support services.

A group of interested citizens, representatives from nonprofit organizations and government agencies formed to understand and influence the implementation of the Truckee River Operating Agreement as it affects the Truckee River and its tributaries between the Tahoe Basin and the Nevada state line. In January 2018 Council decided to have a liaison attend the TTBID meeting. This was changed in 2020 to provide a board seat for a Town representative. The meetings are the third Thursday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
