The Town of Truckee
Truckee offers a rich small mountain community experience for residents, second home owners, and tourists alike. Citizen involvement and independent thinking in planning and development has led to great success in preserving and enhancing the unique historic downtown, creating unlimited recreational and open space opportunities, and providing quality affordable housing, redevelopment, and sustainability programs.
Situated between 5,500 and 7,500 feet, Truckee has a full time population of 16,500 and an annual growth rate of approximately two percent.
The Town Council
Every year, the Town Council adopts their Mission and Goals that guide the decisions and priorities of the Town for that year.
This year, the top priorities of the Council are: affordable and achievable locals housing, renewable energy and reduced carbon footprint, and making Truckee greener. Other Council goals are: disaster preparedness and forest stewardship, continued revitalization in key areas, supporting divers economic and employment base, expanding public and alternative transportation programs and enhancing community services.

Vital Information for Candidates
In order to serve on Town Council, you must be a resident of Truckee, and registered to vote in the Town of Truckee. A strong commitment to the community, and a drive for excellence is highly favorable. Teamwork and transparency are also required.
The candidate's term will go through November 2020 and the seat will be contested during that election.
