Anna Klovstad (email Council Member Klovstad) - After years of spending weekends in Tahoe, Anna Klovstad and her husband Sven decided to take the leap and move to Truckee. They never looked back. In 1997, the Klovstads set down deep roots here. Their two children, Sid and Braidon, came into the world via Tahoe Forest Hospital.
Environmental and sustainable practices are Anna’s passion. She is in a unique position to make a difference at her job as a construction manager for the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD). She has also managed the State and Federal award-winning TTUSD sustainability program. Her leadership has resulted in energy efficiency improvements in the District that save hundreds of thousands of dollars annually. Her dream is to help the Town of Truckee achieve its 100 percent renewable goals and for Truckee to become a model sustainable mountain town. Based on conversations with voters, she will work toward improving the housing challenges and expanding transportation and other services in our community.
Anna and her family regularly volunteer for Truckee River Day and have been Champions for Truckee Clean Up Day since 2012. It wouldn’t be unusual to catch her picking up trash while she is on a regular walk with her dog Sofie. The Klovstad family enjoys alpine and Nordic skiing, road and mountain biking, music, hiking, paddle boarding, and movies together. Truckee supports their hobbies better than any other place.
Anna holds a degree in Architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She recently received her license as a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) through the Construction Managers Association of America (CMAA). In 2011 she received her license from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM). Anna continued her training in architecture at the San Francisco Institute for Architects and received their Project Manager certification.
