What is a Sister City?

A Sister City relationship is a long-term partnership established between two communities, usually in different countries.  Thematic areas for a Sister City partnership could include educational, art or cultural exchanges, government, business, trade, or philanthropy.

 Mission

Truckee Sister Cities cultivates mutually beneficial relationships and cultural awareness among the youth, adults, businesses and organizations of Truckee and its sister cities through educational and cultural exchange programs.

Does Truckee Have a Sister City?

Not yet! The Truckee Sister City Committee is currently researching and communicating with potential partner cities. In February 2019 staff presented to Town Council an update on the Committee's Sister City Outreach Process

The Committee anticipates bringing a partnership recommendation to Town Council during 2019. Following sister city selection, the Committee will take the lead in creating long-term relationships and communication channels and collaborating with our partner community and local community groups to plan exchange opportunities.

Sister City relationships need not be exclusive. Once an initial sister city partnership is well-established, the Committee may recommend adding additional Sister Cities.
