The Public Works Department works diligently to maintain Truckee roads all year around. During the winter storm season our crews work 24/7 to insure all our roads are plowed and passable, that none are missed and the bus routes are clear, well sanded and safe.
During the remainder of the year some of the various duties we accomplish are snow pole repair and replacement, signage repair and replacement, drainage/ditch cleaning and clearing, culvert cleaning, patching potholes, street sweeping of sand routes and brushing of roadside shrubs and trees. In addition, road maintenance crews complete scheduled street sweeping, street stenciling and striping of public parking stalls and crosswalks.
Public Works responds to hundreds of service requests from the community each year for a variety of services. We have service request procedures in place to assist the public with their needs and to direct them to the proper personnel. Service Request Forms are available for your convenience which can be e-mailed directly to the Public Works Department. Requests can be submitted for snow pole repair or replacement, signage damage or graffiti, potholes, road hazards and line-of-sight issues such a trees that encroach into the roadways.
If you would like to contact Public Works for with a complaint, please see our Complaint Procedure. There you will find a Complaint Form. Public Works can also be contacted by phone at (530) 582-7707, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
