The West End Coffee and Tap applicant requested a new hearing for the project, which was approved by the Planning Commission on January 15, 2019. The applicant requested a new hearing on the basis that the adopted Planning Commission procedures were not properly followed at the January hearing because the applicant was not allowed time for a five-minute rebuttal. 

 The project was publicly noticed for the March 19, 2019 Planning Commission hearing; however, prior to publication of the agenda packet for the hearing, Town staff received notification from the property owner of 15897 South Shore Drive (APN 017-220-001-000) that the contract for the applicants’ purchase of the property had been canceled. Per Development Code Section 18.70.040 (Application Preparation and Filing), applications may be made only by the owner of the subject property, or by a lessee, or any other person with the written consent of the property owner. As the property owner had indicated there was no longer a contract in place for the applicants to purchase the property, the Town Attorney determined that the property owner authorization for the West End Coffee and Tap project had been withdrawn. The agenda item was noted as withdrawn by the property owner and no action will be taken at the March 19, 2019 hearing.

The Town of Truckee has received an application requesting approval of the West End Coffee and Tap, a proposed new restaurant at the west end of Donner Lake  (15897 Shore Drive; APN 017-220-001-000; Application #2018-00000088/ZC-PD). Zoning Clearance approval is requested for construction of a 1,040 square foot coffee shop with 273 square feet of outdoor seating area and four parking spaces. Planned Development approval is requested for a reduction in the required parking spaces. The restaurant is proposed to be open seven days a week, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. from May to October, and 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. from November to April. The sale of coffee, tea, gourmet toast and beer is proposed. To view the notice of submittal, please click here
