Help keep our Truckee community safe from forest fires!
A 100 ft clearing of debris and flammable material around homes and buildings is required according to California law (PRC 4291). This space increases the chance of your home surviving a wildfire and also protects firefighters’ safety when protecting your home. The first 30 ft surrounding your building must be clear of all flammable vegetation and any dead or dying plants. Beyond those 30 ft, the remaining 70 ft must be a reduced fuel zone. Surface litter in this area, including fallen leaves, needles, twigs, bark, cones, pods, small branches, etc., must not exceed a depth of three inches. Please do not drag any debris or yard waste to the Town right-of-way. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to maintain these materials on their property.
