Public Review Draft: 2019-2027 Housing Element
The public review draft of the 2019-2027 Housing Element has been released. The draft has been submitted to the Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) for their review. During this period, the public may provide comments to the Town to forward to the Planning Commission and the Town Council for their consideration. Comments from HCD, the Planning Commission, and the public will be reviewed and incorporated, if necessary, into the Housing Element for the Town Council’s review. The Town Council will review the final draft of the Housing Element for adoption before the final Housing Element is sent to the HCD for certification.
The Housing Element provides a detailed analysis of the Town’s demographic, economic and housing characteristics as required by State Law. The Element also provides a comprehensive evaluation of the Town’s progress in implementing the past policy and action programs related to housing production, preservation and conservation. Based on the community’s housing needs, available resources, constraints and opportunities for housing production and preservation and its past performance, the Housing Element identifies goals, strategies and actions that address the housing needs of present and future residents.
Changes include updates to comply with State law and community-identified potential rezone sites.
The Planning Commission is scheduled to review the public review draft of the Housing Element at its June 18, 2019 public hearing at 6:00 PM at Town Hall (Council Chambers, 10183 Truckee Airport Road, Truckee, CA 96161). The Planning Commission will forward a recommendation to the Town Council.
