There are many opportunities for the citizens and visitors to Truckee for public transportation. The Town of Truckee contracts with
Aztec Transportation to manage the transit system. The system supports a demand response service, Dial-a-Ride and the Truckee Trolley. Dial-a-Ride operates five days a week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Trolley runs hourly, with twelve round trips per day, seven days a week between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. If you are heading to North Shore, there will be opportunities to transfer from the Truckee Trolley to the North Shore Trolley or the TART bus.
The Transit program offers ever-reliable
Dial-a-Ride bus. This transport
system is available for those day-to-day
trips when you don't feel like driving.
Another good time to use Dial-a-Ride is when
you need to take your car in for repair and
would like to do some shopping while you
wait. Most of the repair shops in town have
the number available and will gladly make
the call for you. The cost for Dial-a-Ride
is only $3.00.
So, using any of the transit opportunities available, it doesn't take long to envision a typical day-excursion without the hassle of traffic. You call Dial-a-Ride and are picked up at your home at a preset time. The Dial-a-Ride can take you to the Truckee Depot where you can transfer free to either the Trolley going to Kings Beach or the TART Bus to Tahoe City. There, you make a connection to Emerald Bay for a day-long adventure hiking or visiting Vikingsholm. When you are tired from your day out, you are able to relax and enjoy the ride without the hassles and tension of traffic.
