Skip to page body Home About Us Living in Truckee Visitors Departments How Do I?

Welcome to the webpage of the Truckee Police Department. The Town of Truckee Police Department was officially formed in June of 2001 in the lineage of the Town’s establishment in 1863 and incorporation in 1993.

The Town is uniquely geographically located in the easternmost region of the county and is separated from the County Seat and the remaining two incorporated cities by 53 miles, over 2400 feet in elevation over the historical Donner Pass, and often by severe weather conditions. We are the largest municipality in the county and serve a large flex population in a Town with nearly half of its residential units maintained as second home or vacation properties. Truckee’s citizens closely preserve its small town atmosphere while welcoming and hosting national and international visitors into the Town’s renowned region for year-round outdoor activities in a historical western mountain “train town” setting.

The police department’s officers and staff serve in partnership with Town government employees and the Town’s citizens to preserve and enhance a high quality of life in the finest community in the Sierra Nevada Range.
