BARBARA GREEN (Council Member email) Barbara moved to Truckee from Sunnyvale in 1991 and became active in the community within months. Barbara served on the Boards of Directors of the Truckee Donner Land Trust and League to Save Lake Tahoe. She served for 6 1/2 years on the Nevada County Planning Commission, 2 years as Chair. She was elected to the Nevada County Board of Supervisors for 4 years, as Chair in 2001. She was elected to the Town Council in 2004. Her daughter, Sarah, has lived in Truckee since 1994. Her other daughter, Carolyn, lives in Palo Alto; son, Bill, lives in Huntington Beach and is a former Olympian. She has 4 grandchildren. Barbara is a founding member of the Sierra Business Council, is a member of the Truckee Donner Historical Society, and served on the Truckee Trails and Bikeways Committee. Before moving to Truckee, Barbara was elected to 3 terms on the Board of Directors of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District. She served on the Santa Clara Parks & Recreation Commission for 4 years, the Bay and Ridge Trails councils, Board of the Committee for Green Foothills, and was President of the Trail Center in the Bay Area. She has been a Sierra Club member for 38 years. She was attracted to Truckee as a hiker and skier and by the quaint character of the town. She is working to preserve the natural environment and charm of the downtown.
