Truckee Council Members: The Town is governed by five (5) Council Members, elected at-large for four (4) year terms. Elections are held every other year, and terms are staggered.  Each year, in December, the Council chooses which Council Members will serve as Mayor and Vice Mayor the following year.

The Town of Truckee is scheduled to conduct its next General Municipal Election on November 6, 2018, to elect three (3) Council Members for four (4) year terms.

Beginning July 16, 2018, and ending August 10, 2018, any resident, registered to vote within Town of Truckee boundaries can make an appointment to complete the paperwork for nomination to run for a Truckee Town Council seat.  Each Candidate will be required to collect nomination signatures from 20 Truckee registered voters to qualify to run for the office.  If any one of the three incumbents listed below fails to file by August 10th, the filing period for non-incumbents will be extended to August 15, 2018.

The current Town Council is:

  • 2014-2018 term
    • Morgan Goodwin
    • Carolyn Wallace Dee
    • Patrick Flora
  • 2016-2020 term
    • Jessica Abrams
    • David Tirman

Are you interested in running for office?

There are some differences between running for Truckee Town Council versus one of our Special District offices.  Most significantly, you must be nominated for the Truckee Town Council.   A minimum of twenty signatures are required on your petition.  In contrast, you need only apply to run for an office on one of our Special District Boards.  All candidates running for office in Eastern Nevada County can make an appointment to file for office, or simply get additional information.
