Truckee Council Members: The Town is governed by five (5) council members, elected at-large for four year terms. Elections are held every other year, and terms are staggered. Each year, in December, the council members choose which of them will serve the following year as Mayor and Vice Mayor.
The Town of Truckee is scheduled to conduct its next General Municipal Election in November 8, 2018, to elect two () Council Members for four (4) year terms.
Any Town resident, and registered voter,other than the incumbents, can make an appointment to complete the paperwork for nomination to run Truckee Town Council seats.

The Town of Truckee is one of three incorporated cities in Nevada County (Grass Valley and Nevada City are the other two). Truckee is a Charter Town, incorporated on March 23, 1993 and the 2013 official State Department of Finance estimates the population in Truckee to be 15,918.

There are some differences between running for Truckee Town Council versus one of our Special District offices. Most significantly, you must be nominated for the Truckee Town Council, twenty signatures minimum are required on you petition. You need only apply to run for an office on one of our Special District Boards. All candidates running for office in Eastern Nevada County can make an appointment to file for office, or just get additional information.
