1993 and the police department started
in 2001. Your experience is valued here

has 26 sworn officers which includes
patrol, dedicated traffic officer,
detectives, and an SRO. Collateral
assignments include bike patrol, FTO,
dive team, boat and personal watercraft
patrol, and collision investigation
team. Salary as of July 2007 is $4369 -
$5898/mo, plus 5% for an Int. POST and
an additional 2.5% for an Advanced; 5%
shift differential; 5% for detectives;
5% for FTOs w/trainees; 2.5% bilingual
pay. (Contract negotiations are in
progress for FY 08/09.) Additional
benefits include PERS 3% @ 50
(employees’ contribution paid by Town);
fully provided uniforms and safety
equipment (dry-cleaning paid by Town);

RESERVE
POLICE OFFICER
($20/
hour) The Truckee Police Department is
seeking highly qualified individuals to
become part of the Truckee Police
Department. The Reserve Police Officer
will be expected to perform all the
duties of a full time Police Officer
with the main difference being the
Reserve Police Officer is a part time
officer called upon to assist the agency
when needed to meet staffing needs and
participate in special events. We are
looking for high energy persons who are
innovative and progressive thinking, and
who demonstrate self-initiative and
leadership abilities. Applicants should
possess excellent interpersonal skills
to effectively respond to problems and
complaints from the community and are
able to think clearly and act quickly
and decisively in emergency situations,
while remaining calm. Requirements
include possession of a valid California
or Nevada license and a satisfactory
driving record; possession of a
California POST Basic Certificate or
California POST Academy Completion
Certificate within the last 3 years;
successful completion of background
investigation, polygraph exam, and
medical and psychological evaluations.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Truckee, California, is a mountain community located on top of the Sierra Nevada Range just north of Lake Tahoe. The community is located within a scenic basin surrounded by forests and mountains with a four-season climate uncommon in California. There is a windfall of outdoor recreational opportunities in the area including Lake Tahoe, several lakes and reservoirs, the Truckee River and other trout streams, hiking and camping, cross-country skiing, rock climbing, mountain biking, and a dozen ski resorts within 30 minutes. We are also close to the Reno (35 minutes) and Sacramento (90 minutes) metropolitan areas.
Truckee is growing, but we still maintain our small town atmosphere and lifestyle. Truckee is known as a wonderful family community with an excellent school system. Truckee has a permanent population of nearly 15,000, but a large number of tourists and second home owners visit us throughout the year.
Benefits (Regular, Full-time Employees)
Employees are covered by the California
Public Employees Retirement System
(CalPERS). The CalPERS formulas
are 2.7% at age 55 for miscellaneous
class employees and 3% at age 50 for
safety class employees.
The Town does not participate in Social Security.
Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance (The
Town pays 100% for employees and part of
premium for dependent coverage.)

Accrued Vacation: 1-4 years of service,
