Truckee Council Member

The Town is governed by five (5) council members, elected at-large for four-year terms. Elections are held every other year, and terms are staggered.

Each year, in December, the council members choose which of them will serve the following year as Mayor and Vice Mayor.

The Town of Truckee will be conducting its next General Municipal Election on November 4, 2008, to elect three (2) council members for four (4) year terms.

The Town of Truckee is one of three incorporated cities in Nevada County (Grass Valley and Nevada City are the other two). Truckee is a Charter Town, incorporated on March 23, 1993 and the 2007 official State Department of Finance estimates the population in Truckee to be 16,019.

Candidates will be able to make appointments with the Town Clerk to initiate and file nomination packets to run for office July 14, 2008.
