Basic Wind Speed

Load Determination – Alternate Method, is
approved for use within the Town of Truckee. |

Soil and
Foundation |
Foundation and
soils investigation and reports are normally
required (CBC 1802.2).
If a soils report is not required, allowable
bearing pressure of 2,000 psf may be used unless
site conditions dictate less.

Frost Depth |
For foundations
located below 7,000 feet elevation, the bottom
of exterior perimeter foundations shall be not
less than 18 inches below finished grade.
For foundations located above 7,000 feet
elevation, the bottom of exterior perimeter
foundations shall be not less than 24 inches
below finished grade.
Interior footings and foundations shall be
located a minimum of 12 inches below grade.
Exterior water lines shall be located a minimum
of 36 inches below grade. |

Snow Loads |
All of the Town
of Truckee is considered a snow area with ground
snow loads varying from 190 pounds per square
foot to 545 pounds per square foot depending on
the site location within the Town.
Please view the snow load chart showing
the snow loads in different subdivisions. If
that does not provide the snow load for the
project site in question, please fax or email
the Building and Safety Division for the site
specific ground snow load. Be sure to include
the project address or parcel number.
