BOARD OF APPEALS

Pursuant to Section 105 of the Uniform Building Code and Town of Truckee Ordinance 2002-07 a Board of Appeals has been created to hear and decide appeals of orders, decisions or determinations made by the building official relative to the application and interpretation of the codes adopted by the Town of Truckee.  The Board of Appeals shall have no less than seven members who are qualified by experience and training to pass on matters pertaining to building construction and who are not employees of the jurisdiction.  The Board shall consist of an Architect; a Civil or Structural Engineer, a General Building Contractor, a Plumbing Contractor, a Mechanical Contractor, an Electrical Contractor, and an individual with demonstrated expertise in California Disabled Access Regulations.  The Building Official is a non-voting member of the Board and functions as secretary.  The Town Attorney may provide legal information and advice to the Board, which shall be considered in their deliberations.  The Board of Appeals shall be appointed by the governing body and shall hold office at its pleasure.  The Board shall adopt rules of procedure for conduction its business, and shall render all decisions and findings to the appellant with a duplicate copy to the Building Official.  The Board of Appeals shall have no authority relative to interpretation of the administrative provisions of the codes nor shall the board be empowered to wave requirements of these codes.
