Town of Truckee - Officer of the Year

The Truckee Police Department is proud to announce that Sergeant Tim Hargrove has been selected by his peers as the Truckee Police Department Officer of the Year for 2007.

Sergeant Hargrove is the senior sergeant at the Department and has been with the department since we started in 2001. He is recognized as a leader not simply because of his title, but in the manner in which he carries himself. He has been in the Truckee community as both a supervisor at Truckee PD and previously with the Nevada County Sheriff. His knowledge of the community and its surroundings is exceptional. Sergeant Hargrove has over 26 years in the law enforcement profession.

Sergeant Hargrove supervises and provides input on the Department’s technology including just about every aspect from desktop computers to in-car MDC’s, digital cameras and all things electronic. Tim also contributed heavily to the development of the Department’s Records Management system and is responsible for its regular maintenance today. Tim supervises the Department’s boat and water craft patrol, and dive team. He is a certified diver. He is well versed in regulations in boating and waterways, and has administered more than one grant for the Department. Tim has a tremendous involvement and commitment to the progress and well being of the Department. He is a member and past president of the National Thermographers Association.

Simply put, he is a very well rounded professional representative of the Truckee Police Department and we are very proud that he is our 2007 Officer of the Year.

Gary has been with the program since its inception in 2003. He is currently our citizen coordinator for the VIP program assisting me with the operational and administrative duties to keep the program running. Gary has volunteered a total of 522 hours this last year. The amount of volunteer hours he has donated to the Town of Truckee has also garnished him the Gold Presidents Volunteer Service Award.

Gary has lived in Truckee, with his wife, for the last 9 years. He is a realtor with Fraser Business Brokerage in downtown Truckee. Gary is also a retired Navy Captain with over 26 years in service for his country. As if 522 hours with the Town of Truckee weren’t enough, Gary also volunteers for the Nevada County Search and Rescue program. He also enjoys skiing and hiking. He has two sons, one living in Truckee and another living in Alameda.

It has been my privilege to work with Gary over these past few years and an honor to name him as VIP of the Year for 2007.
